R's new thing is climbing. She loves to climb on stuff now-- it's all she wants to do!
She climbs into her high chair by herself and just sits there sometimes. Today J said she actually crawled onto the table from her high chair to get to a cup of milk.
If we leave our chairs not pushed in under the table, she climbs on them and sometimes gets into some computer-related hijinks.
She climbs on all the furniture. She loves to sit in her rocking chair in her bedroom. If we are sitting near a chair or the couch, she stands on us to get better leverage.
If we are vacuuming, she climbs on the vacuum and rides it around while we clean.
When we go to the park, the thing she loves best is climbing up the stairs to go down the slide.
If we don't close the gate that blocks off our stairs, she immediately makes a beeline for them and wants to climb up all the stairs in the house. Once she gets to the 2nd floor, she makes a run for the stairs up to the 3rd floor.

But now some fun stuff...
The other day it was absolutely gorgeous outside, so R and I spent some time at this park which is a 5-minute walk from our rental house.
She spent most of the time we were there studying, picking up, putting back, and moving around wood chips.

In this picture, she'd just seen some people walking by on the nearby bike/walking trail and was in the middle of smiling and saying "hi. HI. hi hi" to them.
On a totally random note, have I mentioned that J and I found cloth diapers at TARGET? Again, Target, how I love you. We picked up two BumGenius! cloth diapers during our most recent trip out there. bG!3.0 are one of the most popular cloth diapers around as well as highly recommended by my sister-in-law, M, who uses them with our nephew G.
In our cloth diapering, we've primarily used prefold diapers with covers, but we're excited to try a little more variety (and to maybe make things easier when we're out and about and using cloth). Of course, the first thing I did was stick the (as-yet-unused) diaper on R's head. She actually likes when we stick things on her head. She walks around holding her head just so, so that the item doesn't fall off right away. She wore the diaper on her head for quite a while before ripping it off her head and flinging it away from her. So fickle!

Library
J and I got our public library cards today. This library is at least 2x the size of the library we went to in Texas, which is kind of funny since it's a smaller community than the one we lived in. But things were crazy-busy. All kinds of parents and their kids checking out books, tons of people poring over the DVDs available for borrowing, people browsing the internet, and library staff running all over the place reshelving books and moving carts of books from one place to another.
The library's about a 30 minute walk from our house-- not too bad-- although in the future we'll have to time it so that we don't get R home at 6:15 p.m. (she's usually in bed by then). We gave her a quick dinner of cereal flakes, an egg, and some toast and then I got her down to sleep around 7 p.m. without a bath.
Tomorrow we're heading out to PA to visit one of my college friends and her fiance then up to CT to visit J's family for the weekend. We wanted to try and make one more trip to see them before we get super-busy with work.
