50-25

For her last two doctor's appointments, R has been 50th percentile for height and 25th for weight. Yesterday she got her latest round of vaccinations and was 32" long and 23 lbs on the scale. She also got her last flu shot-- yay! She cried a lot but recovered quickly, thank goodness.

  1. I wonder how long the percentile thing is tracked. Until they are pre-teens? Do they still measure head circumference at her age? I imagine once children get hair it is hard to measure.

  2. i have no idea, either. they have actually measured her head at all of her appointments but haven't told us the percentiles for her head measurement (or even the number--I'm sure we could ask but...). I think the idea is mainly to make sure there's not some issue with too small or too large heads-- not so much a tracking of the percentiles with that. I really don't know though.

The growth charts I've seen (I have one in the back of my Dr. Sears Baby Book, which is my favorite baby book) only go up to 36 months, so my guess is that around then they stop worrying too much about that?
