I know we live in a ranch house, and the bedrooms aren't very far away from the living area, but get this...
Over the last week or so as we've been putting R to bed, J has been overhearing her describe the events of the evening from her room. For example, a couple days ago he got a bowl of cereal after laying her down. He said as soon as he took the first bite he heard her say, "SOMEBODY'S eating cereal!"
Last week, I peed and she took it upon herself to narrate the experience: "SOMEBODY'S going potty. Probably Mommy. Mommy's going pee-pee. (Pause). Somebody's flushing!"
Is there nothing we can get away with after bedtime?

That's great she will stay in bed and listen. G gets out of bed because he hears a noise. I ran the garbage disposal...he came out and said, "Mom that noise scared me." Then he went back to bed. If a car drives by...he comes out to tell me that it's going to get him. Do you do anything special for her to stay in bed?
ReplyDeleteno, but she does get out of bed or ask for things right after we put her to bed sometimes. what we do is we accommodate the first two requests (usually it's that she has to use the potty, but other times she asks for water) and then after two requests, it's no-nonsense back in bed. i just stand at the doorway and i say, "no, it's bedtime now. back to bed" and she just climbs back in.
