RUS 7 months

Dear RUS,
I cannot believe that you are 7 months old! This has been a month full of physical milestones. You are sitting totally independently now which is so so so so wonderful. Here you are at Winterthur, in the fairies' cottage.Playing with you on the floor is still a little awkward mainly because we have hardwood floors and you're usually on top of a blanket on the floor, and the blanket isn't attached to the floor so it slips and moves when you move. Not ideal for really pushing and pulling and trying out all kinds of new things with your legs and arms.

You don't really roll when we have you on the floor playing. But two nights ago you woke up twice in the middle of the night needing attention because you rolled over onto your tummy and couldn't get back to sleep. So we know you CAN roll! You just aren't all that interested in doing it most of the time. You'd really rather be sitting up.You love your exersaucer. And I think you're just about outgrowing your bouncy chair, which makes me sad because it's so useful. When we put you in your bouncy chair you immediately start doing chin-ups. There's no way you can sit in it not strapped in because you would literally pull yourself up and fall out of the chair.

You're eating solid meals two times a day now and we're trying a variety of jarred baby food-- Daddy's made you some pureed peas and a sweet potato, and we mash our own bananas (who doesn't?) along with baby cereal. Nothing too adventurous yet but you absolutely love it all. You're getting really good with the spoon and swallowing. The most difficult thing with spoon feeding these days is dealing with your hands as you love to bang them on the tray while eating and of course they're hitting all over. It's like an obstacle course trying to get the spoon into a moving target while avoiding other moving objects!

You're an incredibly cheerful boy. You talk often, and the person who still makes you laugh harder than anyone is R. She loves to sing you songs and show you how to do patty-cake and in the car she'll try to hold your hand, which is so incredibly sweet it makes my heart melt.

Love,
Mama
